Here is an example of something truly majestic. The last thing any of us would relate to a band like Bring Me The Horizon is delicacy; sweeping strings, gentle woodwinds and a powerful yet angelic choir. Yet, somehow, we have been presented with a combination of metal and classical that is just beautiful.
‘Doomed’ is a track that already sounded amazing on CD; in this form, the song is nothing short of phenomenal. It is arguable that from even one of the better songs on That’s The Spirit, the real magic in ‘Doomed’ was still predominantly in its lyrics. With this version, that couldn’t be more untrue.
There’s something so immersive about the live orchestra that just captivates and allows you to truly experience the beautiful darkness of ‘Doomed’. The explosive chorus that always impressed me on disc bursts through with even greater intensity in this arrangement and there’s a genuine sense of the physical here – it really does hit you. There isn’t a whole lot to say about this performance, except that it’s truly stunning. I think BMTH have successfully convinced everyone that their live CD/DVD is a necessity.
The CD/DVD of the concert will be released on December 2nd and can be pre-ordered here.
