Happy Halloween!! Nothing brightens up the day like Matt Bellamy in leather pants with Elvis hair….right? The Muse boys have come back for Halloween with a fun and funky cover of The Cramps’ ‘New Kind of Kick’. As if we needed another reason to love them, they never fail to surprise their fans in the most unexpected ways. It’s hardly a musical masterpiece but still worth checking out; at the very least, you’ll crack a grin.
After releasing new single, ‘The Stage’, Avenged Sevenfold barely gave us enough time to recover before shocking fans with the release of their new album! With a level of epicness only they could achieve, they made the global announcement at the end of a live-streamed concert from the rooftop of Capitol Records in LA. The performance included four songs; fan favourite ‘Nightmare’, ‘The Stage’, and the less known but equally impressive ‘Planets’ and ‘Acid Rain’. The release of the unexpected yet awesome single, followed by the album’s release two months before the promised date and then this exciting live-stream… the bar had been set exceptionally high for The Stage. And it was reached with ease. Continue reading Review: Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘The Stage’
We’re all a bunch of fucked up, can’t-fit-in misfits with a strong appreciation of quality music. We like to scream, we love to swear; we head bang and mosh like there’s no tomorrow. We dress in black, our hair is crazy, we’re probably pierced in weird places and tattooed in weirder. And above all that, we’re a community. We love each other like family. We fight for our music and our scene. We stay true to what matters and don’t sacrifice morals for artificial popularity. We are one.
The initial viewpoint of sixteen year old me discovering for the first time this truly mental scene was fantastic. The idea that there’s other people who listen to this kinda stuff, that there’s a world where you don’t have to pretend you don’t know what metal music is, is something that comes as a shock to many late comers. A world where it’s cool to be this different – where doing so is encouraged. It’s like a group of outcasts that have all banded together and collectively put up a massive middle finger at everyone else. Badass bands and artists that don’t require superficial awards to validate their talents, yet still encourage fans of those awards to at least see what our side has to offer. Everyone ultimately just wants to have a good time and appreciate good music. Unfortunately, this is only the case part of the time. Continue reading The Problem with the Metal Community
Here is an example of something truly majestic. The last thing any of us would relate to a band like Bring Me The Horizon is delicacy; sweeping strings, gentle woodwinds and a powerful yet angelic choir. Yet, somehow, we have been presented with a combination of metal and classical that is just beautiful. Continue reading Bring Me The Horizon – ‘Doomed’ (Live at the Royal Albert Hall)
They’re back! After an excruciating 3 year wait, Avenged Sevenfold have returned to bless our ears with an awesome new song; ‘The Stage’. With this slightly longer – but by no means tedious – track of 8 minutes, A7X have silenced any fans that were skeptical of the bands next move following the slightly less successful 2013 album Hail to the King, as well as the switch from Arin Ilejay on the drums to Brook Wackerman.
